Evidence-Based Health Review

This was my first time sampling Pukka’s Organic Latte range and my local Morrison’s supermarket were running a half price sale reduced from £5.00 to £2.50, so I picked up some of the Turmeric Gold to review on the new blog here.

I am a huge fan of Turmeric Golden Milk Lattes and I have been really eager for some time now to try Pukka’s Organic Lattes product range to see how they taste.

Pukka Herbs Organic Lattes are extremely simple to make, all you need to do is warm 250ml of your favorite milk(nut/seed milks etc).

Mix 2 heaped teaspoons of the latte blend with a dash of milk to form a paste and then add the rest of the warmed milk until blended.

I found the Turmeric Gold Organic Lattes very easy to mix and blend, there was no clumping at all like you get with some Golden Milk brands, so that was another plus.

Pukka’s Turmeric Gold Organic Latte contains an array of health promoting spices including Turmeric, Ginger, Cardamom and Saffron.

Let’s start by taking a look at some of the main ingredients in Pukka’s Turmeric Gold Organic Latte’s.

Turmeric root is the primary ingredient of Pukka’s Turmeric Gold Organic Latte as you can probably guess from the name.

Turmeric(Curcuma longa) is a plant in the ginger(Zingiberaceae) family and the roots have a long traditional history of usage both medicinally and for culinary purposes.

Turmeric is one of natures most prized natural anti-inflammatory botanicals and is also traditionally used for treating inflammatory disorders.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a pungent aromatic spice used both for cooking purposes and traditionally as a folk medicine for treating a variety of conditions from gastrointestinal disorders to colds, bronchitis and nausea.

Ginger is probably most popularly known as a natural remedy for treating nausea and clinical research has confirmed its efficacy as an anti-nausea agent.

Clinical research has also found that Ginger root to possess a diverse range of biological activities including antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and anti-ulcer effects.

Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world and clinical research has found that Saffron exhibits anti-depressant activity similar to that of synthetic pharmaceutical anti-depressant medications.

Saffron isn’t only a powerful natural anti-depressant and mood booster, studies have also shown that Saffron exhibits potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which may be responsible for much of its health benefits.

So I was really happy to see Pukka had added Saffron Stigma Powder to their Turmeric Gold Organic Latte blend.

The taste of the Turmeric Gold Organic Latte was absolutely delicious.  A perfect warming beverage for the cold Winter months currently.

I have sampled quite a few Turmeric Golden Milk products in the past and many of them can be lacking in flavour or are often not sweetened adequately.

Pukka’s Turmeric Gold is sweetened with Blue Weber Agave Inulin and the Coconut Milk powder also adds to the nice creamy sweet taste.

Pukka Herbs Turmeric Gold gets the balance of all of the above just right and produces a really tasty healthy beverage.  The addition of the other spices such as Ginger, Cardamom and Saffron really help to add to the depth of the flavour too.

Health Benefits:

Turmeric Gold Latte’s are a delicious and easy way to introduce more healthy spices such as Turmeric and Saffron into your diet.

I find the effect of Turmeric Golden Milk great for its potent anti-inflammatory properties and supporting the digestive system.

All of the spices included in Pukkas Turmeric Gold Organic Latte have documented antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and even potential anti-cancer/tumor properties.

Turmeric Golden Milk Lattes always leave me feeling very refreshed and a nice feeling of well-being.

Vegan Friendly/Plant-based Ingredients & Caffeine Free:

Pukka’s Turmeric Gold Organic Lattes are based around plant-based, vegan friendly ingredients such as coconut milk powder and are sweetened with Blue Weber Agave Inulin.

Another benefit of Turmeric Golden Milk Lattes is that they are completely caffeine free and make an interesting alternative healthy beverage choice for those looking for a change from regular coffee and teas.
